The Traumatic Brain Injury Reporting and Data System (TBI-RADS) is being developed to standardize the reporting and data collection of imaging in patients with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
This system will allow the radiology community to apply consistent terminology related to the diagnosis of TBI, reduce imaging interpretation variability and errors, enhance communication with referring clinicians, facilitate quality assurance and research and, in the long run, improve patient outcome.
The ACR formed the ACR Head Injury Institute (HII) to use its unique skills in the areas of imaging (management, transfer, archiving), education, research and development of appropriateness criteria and guidelines and standards, to help advance the diagnosis, understanding and treatment of head injuries.
